Enough. Enough putting shit off because “what if?”. Yah, IF is the key word here. If I keep saying crap like this to myself I’ll never do anything. Let’s scrap “what if”. It hasn’t happened yet and may never happen anyways. “What if” is in our heads, holding us back from being the awesome we’re meant to be. What if at the end of our one & only time here we look back and say “I wish I took more chances, did more of what i loved”? Ew, I don’t want that regret hanging over my funky & luscious grey haired head.
So dang it, it’s time to really focus on getting my shop opened up. I’m immersed in a fabulous course with Emily Jeffords right now and learning so much. I want to put these lessons into action. You have to start somewhere, right? Learn from doing! One thing (amongst the many) i’ve been scared of doing is starting up an email list (repeatedly telling myself “Amanda, people don’t want more shit in their inbox. Why would they even sign up?”). I went for it though, screw that negative inner critic. I’m proud of the work I create and I feel like there’s a reason I’m so strongly drawn to doing it. I WANT TO ADD BEAUTY TO THIS WORLD!
I’ve been having ideas for a couple of painting series, one of them is pretty big. I want to get moving on it STAT but, I know that this one will, and should, take time. I want to get all of the details right, the subject is something I care about so I don’t want to rush it. In the meantime I want to let the paintings I currently have in my portfolio burst out into the world. Set them free, allow them to bring joy to other peoples homes. They’re sadly sitting in the darkness of my folios right now. It’s hard to let your creations go but they deserve light and love (just like we do!)
If you’re interested in joining me on my journey, finding out when I release these ideas & works, I would love to add you to my newsletter. I would be absolutely flattered to have you with me.
I’m also going to be asking the people on my list for some ideas relating to the two ideas frolicking around in my head. A hint re: those ideas:
1. colour pallets (this is a fun one which I’ve already started playing with)
2. nature (this is the big one I mentioned above)
If you’re interested in helping out, collaborating, then please do! It’s so much fun when other people are involved. I hope to see you there!
